Still Riding Like the Wind After Forty Years
I had seen Christopher Cross perform in 2012 in Morristown, New Jersey but it was a surprise appearance at a concert called Sail Rock which featured several different seventies bands and singers. Cross only performed "Ride Like the Wind", but I was very impressed by what I had seen and hoped for an opportunity to see him perform live. Thankfully I did get that opportunity at one of my favorite venues, The Wellmont Theater in Montclair, New Jersey. It was great to finally see a full concert from one of the greatest singer/songwriters ever. I had grown up listening to his excellent music (I asked my mother to buy me the 45 of "Arthur's Theme" and I listened to it an infinite number of times. I could not get enough of it.). To see Christopher Cross performing the great songs I could not get enough of live made me enjoy the songs even more. Christopher Cross put every effort into delivering the best performance he possibly could. His effort and his love for his fans clearly showed in every song he performed. He also had the added benefit of being supported by a terrific backup band. The Musicians and backup singers were nothing short of terrific. They all showed by their considerable talent and you can tell by just looking at them that they were having just as great a time as me and me fellow audience members. The concert was a great experience from start to finish. A great performance by not just a great singer/songwriter, but a great person.
